just cus people might not know this but Jess Hawkins is - depending on how you look at this - either the first completely openly, out LGBTQ+ person (at the time of driving) to test a Formula 1 car or the first in 50 years, since Mike Beuttler.
(the debate is whether Beuttler was really ‘out’ since although people knew he didn’t explicitly say it)
self-reblogging here but: as a gay lady hell yeah I love Lella Lombardi and her host of hot girlfriends but she never, ever said she was gay. she was not out. even though she was survived by her longtime girlfriend, she never outed herself.
